Not a privacy policy. The three facts underneath it, and how to check each one yourself.
One: there is no server for your voice
Zumbo has no server for your voice. There is no account, no API key and no network request needed to transcribe. There is no sign-in screen because there is nothing to sign in to.
Two: the audio is processed here
Audio is processed on your Mac by the speech engine that ships inside the app. Nothing is uploaded, cached or logged anywhere else. That is what the 570 MB download is: the model, on disk, next to the app.
Three: there is nothing to retain
Zumbo has no data retention policy to read, because there is no database to retain anything in. Your history is a file on your Mac. Delete the app and it goes with it.
The only things it ever sends
Your license key when you activate, and a version number once a day to check for updates.
How to check
- Turn off Wi-Fi and dictate. It works exactly the same.
- Watch it in Little Snitch or Lulu. You will see the activation call and the daily version check, and nothing during dictation.
- Read the download size. An engine that lived in the cloud would not need 570 MB on your disk.
